“Go lie down” “Get some rest” “Put your feet up” I’ve been told these a time or two.
I did it too, only to experience even more pain when I got back up!
Here’s another approach.
Get your body moving! You’re not going to run a marathon, but do simple, functional movement to increase the range of motion in the very area experiencing the pain.
That is Pilates!
Functional movement using your body in the very manner in which it moves throughout the day.
It's the ability to move the body with proper muscle and joint function for effortless, pain-free movement. The origin of pain is inflammation and it seems like it nestles in deep when we stop moving.
But once you start moving the body again, and not just with stationary stretching, but actual movement, the fluid in the swelling can flow again and pain can go down.
Nope! You don’t have to live in daily pain! “When you move the pain moves too!”
